Becklens solid day leads Men’s Basketball to victory over Saint Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. (January 10, 2015) – The senior duo of Ryen Vilmont (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Paul Becklens (Boston, Mass.) each dropped 18 points, while sophomore Donte Gittens (Hartford, Conn.) chipped in 17 as the Franklin Pierce Men's Basketball team defeated the Saint Rose College Golden Knights by a final score of 72-62.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 10-5 (5-3 Northeast-10) while Saint Rose falls to 4-6 (2-4 Northeast-10).

Both Franklin Pierce and Saint Rose traded the lead in the first half before Franklin Pierce ran away with a 10 point lead going into the locker room at the half. The Ravens were able to extend their lead out to a high of 24 points in the second half before Saint Rose cut into the lead before the final buzzer.

Franklin Pierce received the top offense from Vilmont, Becklens, and Gittens. Junior Tyler Iacuone (Mahopac, N.Y.) added in 10 points to finish off the only Ravens in double figures. Becklens had the best all-around game, as he also led the team in every other significant category, with six steals, five rebounds, and three assists.

For Saint Rose, Chris Dorgler has a huge offensive game with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Sam Eckstrom came up behind his teammate with a solid 16 points and six rebounds. The Golden Knights struggled from behind arc, only shooting 35 percent (7 for 20) for the game.

The Ravens return to the court next weekend on Saturday, January 17th then they return to the Fieldhouse in Rindge to take on New Haven with a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.
