NYACK, N.Y. (December 8, 2014) – Senior Ryen Vilmont (Philadelphia, Pa.) and sophomore Donte Gittens (Hartford, Conn.) both impressed on Monday night as the Franklin Pierce University Ravens defeated the Nyack College Warriors by a final score of 97-61 in non-conference play. Vilmont dropped a game-high 23 points on 7-10 shooting, all from behind the three-point line while grabbing eight rebounds. Gittens impressed with 8-9 shooting on the day, including one three pointer, for 19 points while grabbing five rebounds, two steals, and dishing two assists.

With the win, the Ravens improve to 6-4 overall, and remain 2-2 in Northeast-10 play. For Nyack, with the loss they drop to 2-6 overall.

The Ravens and Warriors exchanged the lead in the opening minutes of the game, up until five minutes into the first half. Franklin Pierce was able to grab the lead and never look back en route to the win. The Ravens were able to lead by 39 points at one point, shooting over 60 percent for the game, including just under 54 percent from behind the arc.

Franklin Pierce was also given solid performances by freshman Dustin Cole (Standish, Maine) and senior Paul Becklens (Boston, Mass.). Cole hit double figures for the second consecutive game by shooting 5-10 including 3-5 from behind the arc in his pursuit of 15 points. Becklens managed seven points, but was able to spread the wealth with nine assists and swiping five steals. Other notable Ravens were junior Tyler Iacuone (Mahopac, N.Y.) with nine points and freshman Jordan Lackey (South Plainfield, N.J.) who scored a career-high eight points.

For Nyack, Khalid Samuels stood out as a bright spot on a night where the Warriors only shot 31.6 percent from the field, and only going 8-18 from behind the arc. Samuels scored 18 points, including shooting 4-7 from three-point land, while teammate Yahmir Greenlee scored 12, seven of which came from the free throw line. Samuels and Greenlee were the only Warriors in double-figures.

The Franklin Pierce defense was able to hold Nyack to only 12 points in the paint, and only five second-chance points all game.

The Ravens return to the court in a couple weeks on Sunday, December 21 when they return home to the Fieldhouse to take on non-conference opponent Dominican (N.Y.) at 2 p.m.
