RINDGE, N.H. (October 5, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team broke a three-game scoreless streak in emphatic fashion on Friday night, as the Ravens hung a six-spot on visiting New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Senior forward Dayna Kowesky (Leominster, Mass.) and freshman midfielder Feline van Doorn (Barendrecht, Netherlands) put home a pair each, as Franklin Pierce rolled up a 6-0 victory over the Chargers.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 4-4 (1-2 NE10), while New Haven falls to 1-7 (0-5 NE10).

Franklin Pierce got the only goal it would need 11 minutes into the contest. Off a penalty corner, senior midfielder Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville, Mass.) sent the ball over to junior midfielder Allison Collins (Sandown, N.H.) on the right side. Collins wound up and drove the ball towards the middle from there. Kowesky was stationed just in front of the penalty spot and was able to deflect the ball home inside the left post for her second goal of the season.

The Ravens then struck three times in a span of 6:36 to grow the lead to 4-0 before halftime. First, in the 21^st minute, Moulton pushed forward from midfield and then fed the ball to van Doorn, who was in front of the left post. The latter corralled the ball and put a shot inside the right post for her second goal of the campaign as well.

Just 2:45 later, in the 24^th minute, Franklin Pierce converted on another corner chance. Freshman back Julianne Sacco (Southborough, Mass.) inserted to Collins on the right side and then cut for the right post. Collins sent the ball to the top of the circle for Moulton, who teed up a shot from there. Sacco got her stick to the ball en route and picked up her third goal of the season on the tip.

Another 2:51 after the third goal, the Ravens made it 4-0 on Kowesky's second of the night, in the 28^th minute. Kowesky forced a turnover on the left-wing side off of a New Haven restart. Kowesky then carried the ball into the middle of the circle on her own and put a shot inside the left post to notch her second career multiple-goal game.

The Ravens added two more goals, just 1:50 apart, in the second stanza, to create the 6-0 final. In the 53^rd minute, New Haven sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Shaker went to kick the ball clear, but instead sent the rebound straight to the stick of van Doorn on the left side of the circle. The Dutchwoman quickly flipped a shot over Shaker and picked the upper reaches of the net to record her first collegiate multiple-goal game.

Finally, in the 55^th minute, Franklin Pierce capped the scoring with the first career goal for junior forward Madison Gagnon (Milford, N.H.). Sacco set things up by stepping up to make a strong play on the ball in the midfield. After gaining control, Sacco pushed forward and then sent a hard pass into the right side of the circle for Gagnon. After Gagnon collected the pass, she put a shot into the far side of the cage to complete the night's scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Barnes (Greenwich, N.Y.) started in goal, played the first half and picked up the win (4-4) in front of the Franklin Pierce net. Junior Kaitlyn Benoit (Goffstown, N.H.) made her collegiate debut, as she logged the second half in goal. The Ravens did not surrender a shot on goal in the contest, as both New Haven shot attempts were blocked by the defense.

At the other end of the field, Shaker (1-7) finished with 10 saves against 16 shots on goal and suffered the loss for New Haven.

As the score line suggested, Franklin Pierce was dominant throughout the contest. The Ravens posted advantages of 23-2 in shot attempts, 16-0 in shots on goal and 12-1 in penalty corners.

The Ravens return to the field on Tuesday, Oct. 9, when they travel to Stonehill for an NE10 contest. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Massachusetts.
