RINDGE, N.H. (September 26, 2017) – Fresh off an upset win over the No. 10 team in the country on Saturday afternoon, the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team got a taste of a top-five team on Tuesday night, as the Ravens squared off with No. 4 Saint Anselm. It would be all Hawks at Sodexo Field, as Saint Anselm rang up advantages of 18-2 in shot attempts, 14-2 in shots on goal and 11-0 in penalty corners on the way to a convincing, 4-1, Northeast-10 Conference win. Saint Anselm senior midfielder Jackie Guillemette scored the first three goals of the game, to tally her first career hat trick.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 5-4 (2-2 NE10), while Saint Anselm improves to 8-0 (4-0 NE10). The Hawks have outscored their opponents 31-7 on the season.

The Hawks opened the scoring on Tuesday in just the seventh minute, 6:01 into the proceedings. A breakdown in the midfield sent Saint Anselm the other way on a 3-on-1 rush, which would evolve into a 2-on-0 against the goalie, with the ball on the right side. Senior goalkeeper Meaghan Williams (Salem, N.H.) came off her line to try to smother the threat, but senior forward Emma Kincaid was able to slip a pass over to Guillemette, who put her shot inside the left post for her third goal of the season.

Guillemette would strike twice more on the night. In the 27^th minute, sophomore forward Hannah Friend sent the ball towards the goalmouth from the left-wing side of the circle. The ball eluded the defense and got beyond the reach of Williams as well, to find its way to a pair of Hawks by the right post. Kincaid touched it to Guillemette, who had the finish to record her first collegiate multiple-goal game.

Guillemette completed the hat trick after halftime, in the 43^rd minute. Williams made the initial save on the play, off of a drive from the top of the circle, but the Ravens were unable to clear the threat. On the right-wing side of Williams, Friend was able to get her stick to the ball and push it to Guillemette near the left post for the easy finish.

Saint Anselm pushed the lead as high as 4-0 in the 59^th minute. Freshman midfielder Kendall Clifford sent the ball towards the goal from the left side of the circle. Senior back Erin Collins was stationed en route and was able to deflect it past Williams and into the cage for her third goal of the campaign.

A similar play went for Franklin Pierce's only score of the night, in the 63^rd minute. Outside the top of the circle on the right side, junior midfielder Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville, Mass.) took a feed from senior forward Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) and stepped inside the arc. Moulton let fly with a drive towards the goal from there. Senior forward Katlyn Barden (Dayton, Maine) was in front of the left post and was able to tip the ball home to get the Ravens on the board. It was Barden's first collegiate goal.

Williams (5-4) finished with nine saves against 13 shots and suffered the loss in goal for Franklin Pierce, while junior back Alicia Lasnik (Glenmont, N.Y.) chalked up a defensive save along the way. Freshman netminder Julia Hand (6-0) made one save against two shots to pick up the win for Saint Anselm.

The Ravens return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 30, when they remain home to host No. 3 LIU Post in an NE10 contest. Game time is set for noon at Sodexo Field.
