Liseno In her 43rd career game, Liseno scored the first goal of her career on Wednesday night against Stonehill.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 23, 2013) – Junior midfielder Adria Liseno (Somersworth, N.H.) scored her first career goal in the second half on Wednesday night, but it was the only goal of the game for the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team, which dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 3 nationally ranked Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Sophomore forward Erika Kelly scored twice in the win for Stonehill.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-12 (1-7 Northeast-10), while Stonehill improves to 15-0 (8-0 Northeast-10).

Stonehill, which would control the first half to the tune of an 11-2 advantage in shot attempts and a 5-1 edge in shots on goal, opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Senior midfielder Gina Sheehan sent the ball to senior midfielder Devin Ingersoll at the top of the circle. The latter sent a long shot through traffic which eluded everybody and found the back of the cage for Ingersoll's third goal of the season. It was the first two points of a four-point night for Ingersoll, who added a pair of assists later.

Less than three minutes after the Ingersoll goal, junior forward Emily Sideris had the ball and space to work with on the right side of the circle. She took a shot which slipped inside the right post for her third goal of the season. In the 32nd minute, the Skyhawks made it 3-0 heading into the halftime break. Ingersoll received the ball in the middle of the circle and sent it towards the cage, where it found junior forward Jennifer Foley at the right post for her second goal of the campaign.

Kelly, the nation's leading scorer, struck for her two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half to push the lead to 5-0. In the 43rd minute, Stonehill wound up with a 2-on-1 down low in the circle and senior forward Kelly Gouveia fed Kelly at the right post for her 29th of the season. In the 53rd minute, the Skyhawks sent the ball to Ingersoll at the top of the circle on a penalty corner. Ingersoll then dished it off to the left side and Kelly drove home her 30th of the campaign.

The Skyhawks pushed the lead as high as 6-0 with a goal in the 69th minute. Freshman midfielder Shea Healy gave the ball to sophomore midfielder Rachel Murphy on the left side and the latter put home her first goal of the season.

Franklin Pierce broke up the shutout as time was expiring to create the 6-1 final. Amidst a goalmouth scramble, Liseno tracked down the loose ball and pushed it across the goal line just ahead of the horn. There was some initial confusion as to whether or not the goal would count, but it would stand up as the first career points for the junior midfielder.

Freshman goalkeeper Amy Zahensky (Bow, N.H.) started in goal for Franklin Pierce, made two saves against seven shots on goal over the opening 56:38 and took the loss (1-11). She was replaced by sophomore Erin Wood (Dover Plains, N.Y.), who made four saves against five shots on goal the rest of the way.

Junior Elizabeth Genovese started in front of the Stonehill cage, stopped all four shots on her cage over the first 59:39 and picked up the win (15-0). Freshman Dana Dhami made one save against two shots on goal over the final 10:21.

The Ravens return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they travel to Assumption for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Game time is set for noon at Multi-Sport Stadium in Worcester, Mass. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on Tuesday, Oct. 29 against Saint Anselm at 6 p.m.
