Amendola, Morrison Earn Spots on NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams

RINDGE, N.H. (July 19, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University has had a pair of student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the spring season, as announced on Wednesday by the Conference office. Senior right-hander John Amendola (Wallingford, Conn.) of the baseball team and senior Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) of the women’s golf team were both honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 93 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the Northeast-10.
Kauffman Joins USA Baseball Women’s National Team Coaching Staff

RINDGE, N.H (June 14, 2018) – Assistant coach and alum Cody Kauffman ’12 of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been selected to join the coaching staff of the USA Baseball Women’s National Team this summer, as announced earlier this spring by USA Baseball. Kauffman and the rest of the staff have already begun to build the team, and will then prepare the squad for World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women’s Baseball World Cup in August.
Baseball’s Friday Named to ABCA All-East Region Second Team

RINDGE, N.H. (June 11, 2018) – Senior third baseman John Friday (Southborough, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-East Region Second Team, as announced earlier this spring by the ABCA.

(June 5, 2018) – Senior third baseman John Friday (Southborough, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-East Region Second Team, as announced earlier this spring by the NCBWA. In addition, senior center fielder Adam Chase (Bridgewater, Mass.) and junior right-hander Zach Hart (Wallingford, Conn.) each earned All-East Region Honorable Mention nods from the NCBWA.

(June 1, 2018) – Senior right-hander John Amendola (Wallingford, Conn.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team, as announced earlier this spring by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). As a result of the selection, Amendola advances to the Academic All-America ballot.
Baseball to Send Three to NEIBA All-Star Game

This year’s game is scheduled for noon on Thursday, May 31, at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (May 20, 2018) – Trailing by two runs through eight innings on Sunday afternoon, the fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team was able to get the tying run to the plate, but no further, in an elimination game on the fourth day of the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by University of New Haven, at Peter X. Finnerty Field on the campus of Pace University. The Ravens plated one run in the ninth, but still came up one run short, as they saw their season end in a 5-4 loss, at the hands of host, top seed and No. 8/16 nationally ranked New Haven. Senior catcher Stephen Octave (New Windsor, N.Y.) homered for Franklin Pierce in the fourth inning of what would be his final collegiate game.

(May 19, 2018) – If the stakes were not already high enough, things get even more serious on Saturday afternoon, as the fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team will take to Peter X. Finnerty Field with its backs to the wall on the third day of the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by University of New Haven, on the campus of Pace University. The Ravens will match up with third-seeded Le Moyne in an elimination game scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., though weather in the region looks to be wet on Saturday and may force schedule adjustments.

(May 19, 2018) – With the season on the line, junior right-hander Zach Hart (Wallingford, Conn.) helped the fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team take its first step back in the loser’s bracket on Saturday night, on the third day of the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by University of New Haven, at Pace University. Hart collected eight strikeouts over seven innings of four-hit ball, as the Ravens eliminated third-seeded Le Moyne with a 6-2 victory at Peter X. Finnerty Field. In back-to-back at-bats in a pivotal, three-run fifth, senior center fielder Adam Chase (Bridgewater, Mass.) clubbed a two-run double and senior third baseman John Friday (Southborough, Mass.) provided an RBI triple.

(May 17, 2018) – A two-out error by sophomore shortstop Joe Napolitano (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) led to three unearned runs, as part of a four-run bottom of the second inning, which put the fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team behind for good on Thursday night, on the first day of the NCAA Championship East Regional. The miscue was part of a four-error showing by the Ravens, who tallied just five hits at Peter X. Finnerty Field, on the way to a 7-2 loss to fourth-seeded and No. 23 nationally ranked Southern New Hampshire in each team’s first game of the double-elimination tournament, which is being hosted by the University of New Haven, on the campus of Pace University. Making only his third start of the season, junior right-hander Jake Walkinshaw went the distance on 122 pitches for the Penmen.

(May 13, 2018) – Following a one-year hiatus, the Franklin Pierce University baseball team returns to the NCAA Championship later this week, as the Ravens have been selected as the fifth seed in the NCAA Championship East Regional, as announced Sunday night by the NCAA. The Ravens earned an at-large bid in the seven-team, double-elimination tournament, which will run Thursday, May 17 through Monday, May 21, at Peter X. Finnerty Field, on the campus of Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y., though the tournament is being hosted by top-seeded University of New Haven. Franklin Pierce will open pursuit of its eighth regional crown at 7 p.m. on Thursday against fourth-seeded Southern New Hampshire.

(May 8, 2018) – The second-seeded Franklin Pierce University baseball team left 12 men on base on Tuesday night, including six men in scoring position, which would prove costly, as the Ravens dropped a 5-3 decision in 11 innings to visiting and third-seeded Merrimack in a Northeast Division matchup in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. Merrimack junior second baseman Anthony Garbarino provided the pivotal hit at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field, as he clubbed a two-run double in the top of the 11th to break at 3-3 tie.
