RINDGE, N.H. (May 17, 2017) – Junior right-hander John Amendola (Wallingford, Conn.) and junior catcher Stephen Octave (New Windsor, N.Y.) have been named among the Honorable Mention All-East Region selections by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, in conjunction with the naming of the organization's year-end All-Region Teams, as announced on Wednesday by the NCBWA.

It is the first regional-level accolade for either player. Amendola was selected to the All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team earlier this spring, while Octave landed on the Second Team.

Amendola was the team's most consistent starting pitcher, in terms of run-prevention, and logged a team-high 78 innings on the mound over 12 appearances, including 10 starts, three complete games and two shutouts. Through the end of the conference championships, he ranked sixth in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings (0.92) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (8.63), as well as 12th in ERA (1.62) and WHIP (0.94). Among league pitchers, he is tied for fourth in the NE10 in wins (7), ranked fifth in ERA and innings pitched, tied for sixth in complete games and ranked eighth in strikeouts (69). Amendola allowed just 17 runs (14 earned) on 65 hits and issued only eight walks on the way to a 7-3 record and one save.

Octave hit in the cleanup spot for much of the season and slashed .340/.374/.492 over 191 at-bats (65-for-191) for the Ravens, while playing in 47 games, including 45 starts. In the NE10, he is currently ranked first in runs batted in (48) and hits, third in total bases (94), tied for seventh in extra-base hits (18), eighth in batting average, tied for ninth in home runs (5) and 12th in slugging percentage. Octave has tallied 12 doubles, one triple and five home runs. He has scored 31 runs, earned 10 walks and one hit-by-pitch against 24 strikeouts, and stolen two bases in four attempts.

The Ravens (33-15) wrapped up their season last week as the runner-up at the NE10 Championship. It marked the team's league-record 10th appearance in the final round of the conference tournament. Franklin Pierce posted its 16th straight season of at least 30 wins, and qualified for the NE10 Championship for a league-record 17th straight year.
