Kevin Rivers Signs With Seattle Mariners

(July 27, 2009) – Junior right fielder Kevin Rivers (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has signed a professional contract with the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. Rivers will report to the Mariners’ rookie-level, Arizona League affiliate in Peoria, Ariz.

(July 14, 2009) – Junior right-hander Sean Keeler (Cazenovia, N.Y./Hutchinson CC) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been selected to represent the West Division in the New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game. The game is scheduled for July 18 at 6:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Mass.

(July 2, 2009) – Two Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been selected to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team for the spring season, as announced by the conference office. Sophomore designated hitter Derek Ingui (Sterling, Mass./Wachusett Regional) of the baseball team and senior midfielder Jon Priest (Burlington, Mass./Landmark School) represented Franklin Pierce among the 83 student-athletes honored by the Northeast-10.

(May 15, 2009) – Sophomore shortstop Mario Lopez (Anthony, N.M./Gadsden) scored the winning run in the top of the ninth inning on Friday afternoon as top-seeded Dominican posted a 5-4 victory over the second-seeded and No. 28 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University baseball team in the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship East Regional at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field.
