Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference selections

RINDGE, N.H. (March 1, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University has had five student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the fall season, as announced on Thursday by the Conference office. Senior forward Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville, Mass.) of the field hockey team, senior back Hamish Cadigan (Christchurch, New Zealand) and sophomore midfielder Noam Kolakofsky (Liman, Israel) of the men’s soccer team, and senior goalkeeper Casey Cook (Beverly, Mass.) of the women’s soccer team, were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 84 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the Northeast-10.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must fulfill each of the following criteria: (1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions as a starter or significant contributor, (2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), and (3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The teams are chosen by the vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives. In addition, one honoree in each sport is selected as the NE10’s Sport Excellence award winner in that sport.

For Canavan, it is the third straight Academic All-Conference selection, which, due to the honor being restricted to those who are sophomores and beyond, is the maximum number of times one can earn the accolade in their career. Meanwhile, Cadigan was recognized for the second consecutive season, while the remaining three Ravens earn Academic All-Conference honors for the first time.

Canavan graduated a semester early, and finished her career with a 3.71 GPA, as a health sciences major. She was an All-NE10 Second Team selection in her senior campaign, and was also selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s Senior Game at the end of the year. Canavan is a two-time All-NE10 selection and also landed on the All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2014. She wrapped up her career as the school’s all-time leading scorer (31-13-75) and ranked second in program history in goals (31). This fall, Canavan led the team in assists (7) and finished with 17 points (5-7-17), which was second on the team.

Moulton is in her sixth semester as a health sciences major and currently sports a 3.71 GPA as well. For her part, she was also an All-NE10 Second Team honoree this fall, and was an All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman in 2015. This fall, she led the team in scoring, with 22 points on eight goals and six assists. The point total allowed Moulton to finish tied for 14th in the NE10 in scoring.

Cadigan is in his final undergraduate semester and owns a 3.97 GPA as a marketing major. He had the best year of his career statistics-wise in his final campaign with the Ravens, as he notched 11 points on four goals and three assists while starting in all 16 games. Cadigan finished second on the team in scoring and led the squad with two game-winning goals.

Kolakofsky is in his fourth semester on campus, and has put together a 3.73 GPA as a business management major. He was an All-NE10 Second Team pick this fall, after leading the team in scoring. While starting in all 16 games, he collected 18 points on six goals and six assists, to lead the team in all three categories. Kolakofsky finished in the top-five in the NE10 in assists and the top-10 in the league in points.

Cook is in her final undergraduate semester and has thus far tallied a 3.85 GPA as a criminal justice major. She was the only one to see time in net for the women’s soccer team this fall, as she logged all 1750 of the team’s minutes, a number which ranked 34th in the nation. Within the NE10, Cook finished tied for second in shutouts (8), tied for third in wins (12) and ranked fourth in goals-against average (0.87). She earned NE10 All-Championship Team honors after backstopping the Ravens to an appearance in the league’s title game.
