258 Student-Athletes Earn GPAs of 3.3 or Higher During Fall Semester to be Named to Athletic Department Honor Roll

RINDGE, N.H. (January 18, 2017) – A total of 258 student-athletes in the Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics have been named to the 2017 fall semester edition of the Athletic Department Honor Roll, as announced Thursday. In addition, 20 student-athletes garnered perfect, 4.0 grade-point averages. In all, 20 of the University’s 26 varsity squads eclipsed the 3.0 mark, and the Department’s student-athletes combined to post a 3.12 cumulative GPA for the semester.

To earn selection to the Athletic Department Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a grade-point average of 3.30 or better during a given semester. The award’s criteria are in line with various Northeast-10 Conference and national academic awards programs.

The 20 student-athletes who earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall represented 14 different programs: baseball’s Mike Coggeshall; women’s bowling’s Rachel DesRuisseaux; men’s cross country/track & field’s Martin Gradijan; women’s cross country/track & field’s Rebecca Zylak; field hockey’s Olivia Kowatch; men’s ice hockey’s Austin Christopher; men’s lacrosse’s Michael Donlan and Gabriel Luciani; women’s lacrosse’s Brianna Sweeney; women’s soccer’s Sophie Cousineau, Aimee Malboeuf, Sabrina Rivers, Samantha Rodrigues and Kiley Vermette; sprint football’s Taylor DeForge; and women’s track & field’s Nicole Galewski and Eileen Savinelli.

Men’s tennis posted the Department’s highest team GPA for the semester, at 3.53, while women’s soccer had the highest GPA among women’s teams -- and second-highest overall -- at 3.47. Softball (3.46), women’s basketball (3.38), men’s cross country (3.34), women’s track & field (3.32), volleyball (3.30) and women’s lacrosse (3.30) all met or exceeded GPAs of 3.30 at the team level.
