Bio

Sport supervisor: baseball, field hockey, men's ice hockey, women's lacrosse.

Matthew Janik enters his 12th year in the Athletic Communication office at Franklin Pierce University in 2019-20. After six years as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communication, he was promoted in September 2014 and now leads all media relations and statistical operations for the department's 24 athletics programs. Janik serves as the primary contact for Franklin Pierce's nationally prominent baseball program and its Division I women's ice hockey program, as well as the Ravens field hockey, football (co-contact), men's and women's soccer, men's ice hockey, women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's cross country programs.

In addition to his sport-specific duties, Janik oversees the myriad other operations of the Athletic Communication office, including oversight of the office's two graduate assistants and supervision of the office's 20-student undergraduate workforce. The Athletic Communication office also oversees the Department of Athletics' wildly-successful Pierce Pride program and its community engagement initiatives, in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The office's most prominent operation is the official Athletics website, athletics.franklinpierce.edu, including its high-profile live streaming and online store initiatives.

Previously, as the assistant director, Janik spearheaded many of the office's graphic design operations and served as a liaison between the Department of Athletics and the sports department of the student-run Pierce Media Group. He will continue to play a leading role on both fronts as the Director of Athletic Communication. Outside of Rindge, Janik is currently in the third year of a three-year stint on the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Regional Advisory Committee.

No stranger to the Northeast-10 before coming to Rindge, Janik joined the staff at Franklin Pierce in August 2008 after spending the 2007-08 year as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Southern Connecticut State. While in New Haven, he worked with the then-defending national champion women's basketball program, in addition to the Owls' men's soccer and men's and women's swimming and diving teams, which captured conference titles. Janik also served as the primary contact for baseball and volleyball at SCSU.

Prior to Southern Connecticut State, Janik spent his time as an undergrad working in the Sports Information office at Quinnipiac, where was a two-time recipient of the office's Katie Vashon MVP Award. He graduated from Quinnipiac in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.

Also holding experience outside the realm of college athletics, Janik spent two years as a broadcaster in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. He spent the summer of 2007 with the Sanford Mainers as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations. While in Sanford, Janik was responsible for all of the franchise's media relations initiatives and oversaw all gameday press box operations, in addition to serving as the club's lead broadcaster. In 2006, he held a similar position with the Torrington (Conn.) Twisters.

Originally from Barkhamsted, Conn., Janik currently resides in Jaffrey, N.H.
