Bio

Doug Carty is entering his 20th year with Franklin Pierce. During his tenure, Doug has developed a multi-faceted program to allow students of all backgrounds to be involved.  Using an actively inclusive model, Doug crafts programs based on student interest, first and foremost, with an abundant mix of creative resource allocation.  Raven Recreation has gone from an intramural/facility-based program only, to one that includes club sports, informal recreation, adventure-based programs and the addition of engagement spaces about campus.

Although tradition is at the cornerstone of any recreation program, Doug continues to adjust and reimagine programs as the undergraduate population shifts in their interests.   Large-scale programs include the annual Mount Monadnock Climb, the Freshman Cardboard Boat Regatta, and the annual Oozeball Mud Volleyball Tournament. Doug has built an impressive Adventure Recreation program at the university, featuring upwards of 15 off-campus trips each semester. Prior to coming to Rindge in August of 2001, he worked as an outdoor retailer, a jeep tour guide, and a restaurant manager, all while continually remaining active in various outdoor interests, including rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and sailing.

A 2006 graduate of Franklin Pierce with a bachelor's degree in general studies, Carty also earned an associate degree in applied science of adventure sports from Garrett College in 2001.

Originally from Annapolis, Md., Carty currently resides in Jaffrey, N.H. with his wife, Chauntelle, and their four children: Curtis, Ashlyn, Zachary, and Joshua.
